Another Fake Vidanta Offer

January 10, 2017

An Aimfair member had this to say about a new, Fake Vidanta Offer:
Bob and Mary Ann,

Despite the assurances of Privacy, VIDANTA's information is not at all secure as evidenced by the attached e-mail message we received.

Although I recognized as a false offer, notice how legitimate the format looks and I requested advice from Customer Service for which we received no response.

I am sending this to alert you and other members, specially the new Owners/Members.

Hope this becomes useful information to distribute.

Thank you for sharing this with us. Indeed, although the Aimfair community is aware of these scams, many who are new to our community may not be. The offer is very authentic looking, which is the key to a convincing scam. Here is what the offer says:

Illigitimate offers to rent owners weeks allegedly from Grupo Vidanta are circulating. Four have surfaced since November 2016. Do not send money. Remember, only YOU can help stamp our scammers - DON'T SEND MONEY....!

Look at this! The sender's email address is customerservice@mayan-palace.com.mx. Here is what we found when we used the standard "Who Is" lookup to confirm the domain is ligitimate:

The domain called mayan-palace.com.mx is available for you to buy. So, the email address referenced above is going to some other domain, the whereabouts or owners of which are unknown. It certainly is not going to Grupo Vidanta as stated. Stay Away!!

There is a whole list of fake offers, including this one:
Thank you for sharing your letter with us. We don't want anyone to become a victim....Don't Send Money
