Hurricane Nora - Rain Caused Massive Damage in Parts of Puerto Vallarta

September 4, 2021

Hurricane Nora created enormous amounts of rain in the Sierra Madre mountains and it seemed all of it came through the middle of Puerto Vallarta. The events that took place between August 29 and September 1, 2021 were astounding. Buildings built along the Cuale River were in jeapardy. Some even broke away from their foundations and fell into the normally quiet river. One young man was sleeping when his building succomed to river's high flow rate and washed into the river. Unfortunately, he perished as well.

We have been traveling to Puerto Vallarta since 1998, and only once has a hurricane done as much damage as Nora. During that hurricane the ocean and wind damaged many resorts and destroyed the Malecon in Puerto Vallarta. If you are living next to a river today, your structure is in danger.

Following are a few of the many videos that have been published since August 29, 2021. Most are from local news agencies, while some were taken by bystanders. All show the amazing forces caused by Nora's rain in the Sierra Madre mountains.
